Athens Bicycle opened in the late nineties as a dream of Peter Kotses and Meredith Erlewine, husband and wife and owners of this amazing shop. Located at 4 West Stimson Ave. in Athens, Ohio, they offer sales of bikes, of course, but also service and repair, rentals. They also offer a nice space to browse their unique merchandise, and chat with fellow bikers.
In addition to information on the many services Athens Bicycle offers, the new website is full of useful biking information such as PDF printable maps of the Strouds Run Area Mountain Bike Trail Map (& Lake Hope), bicycling instruction, and Bailey’s Trail. These maps can be extremely useful when it comes to planning your next bike excursion.
For example, “Brewed on the Bikeway” is a trail map that follows the bike path in Athens County along a route that allows for stops (and samples!) from Athens’ favorite breweries, including Jackie O’s, Devil’s Kettle, and Little Fish to name a few.
I personally first met Pete & Meredith of Athens Bicycle back in the eighties when we were all kids. We went to high school together, and have stayed in touch these many years. I remember them both always having an extreme passion for biking, even back then, and I think its wonderful they’ve been so successful with Athens Bicycle and I bet even more good things are on the horizon for this dynamic couple.
The website utilizes WordPress of course (our favorite!) and also employs Woo Commerce so the client can choose to sell merchandise and other services online. It replaces their old website that was expensive, clunky, and difficult to maintain. We were pleased to be able to help yet another local Athens, Ohio business succeed with their marketing efforts.
