On Saturday, June 15, 2019 at the Union Bar & Grille in Eden Marketing’s hometown of Athens, Ohio, there’s an event scheduled to celebrate the life and times of Ivan Faske, a local entrepreneur and counselor who passed away in September of 2018. This event involves several of Eden Marketing’s friends, family, and clients.
After running the local watering hole “Swanky’s Bar” (in Athens) from 1972 to 1982, Ivan turned his attention to becoming a mental health counselor specializing in addiction and recovery, and touched thousands of lives during his work in that arena.
“Ivan saved my life, my children will tell you that Ivan saved my life, my wife will tell you that Ivan saved my life,” Kurt Platte said. Platte, now a Serenity Recovery Network Board Member, sought help at the Serenity House, a recovery home for men that Faske co-founded.
“He laid it down daily because he believed in human beings and he wanted them to get better,” Platte said.
Eden Marketing owner Roman Warmke first met Ivan when Warmke was in high school in the 1980’s. “Ivan was of the previous generation of Athenians and was hired by the school to teach us the pitfalls and dangers of drug use, which was very effective.” Warmke said. “I had many friends work closely with Ivan and even moved into his halfway house if they were in need of more support.”
This concert will not only be a memorial for our fallen friend, but also a fund raiser for Bassett House, a local halfway house for recovering addicts. Many of the musicians performing for this event had personal relationships with the man, and are excited to perform for this worthy cause.
